Thumbnails in Magazine theme

thumbTHUMB

I have to admit, this was one of those things that I was glad to see I wasn’t the only one who had issues setting this up…..although I’m not terribly proud of it. It’s one of those things that when you see how easy it is, you realize how easy it is to be your own worst enemy. I was definitely making this harder than it is.

It’s not like uploading images for the featured content gallery- which is what I was doing. The magazine theme is set up to automatically re-size the images that you use in your post for thumbnails- so you don’t have to upload anything to your host. So, here’s how you do it. Time permitting I’ll do a video later today on this…

After you’ve written your post (or before-whichever way you prefer)-upload your image:

Then, once your image is uploaded- click the HTML button in the top right hand corner of your editor:

Now, you’re going to highlight the html for the image you just uploaded (and will use as a thumbnail)

The html that you’ve copied for your image is what you’re going to place in the value box in the custom field, using “thumb” as your key:

That’s it- now just add your tags, select your category and publish! The Magazine theme will resize it for you for home page featured boxes.
