StudioPress Theme Options [video]
Here’s a question I’ve received more than once in regards to a WordPress Tutorial….specifically a StudioPress tutorial…..so of course I figured it would be MUCH more helpful to create a video showing people how and where to set some of the featured sections for the Church and Lifestyle theme.
Even if you aren’t using the Church or Lifestyle theme- this will give you some insight on WordPress theme options, WordPress Page templates and where you’ll find these options within your WordPress dashboard.
Let me know if I’ve skipped over anything and if the video helps!

Great video tutorials.
Hey thanks for the video tutorial. There were a few things in there that really helped me. I have been using the lifestyle theme for a few months and am learning more and more about it and WordPress every day. That Pagemash plugin (the one you used to initially hide the blog page) is something I have been wondering about for weeks! Thanks again!
Thanks for the comment Ed….
always appreciated.

Hi Shirley,
Thanks so much for the comment….it’s much appreciated!
Glad the video helped…just drop me a note if you have any other questions or suggestions for tutorials!
Happy New Year!
Kim
Hi Kim, I love your videos – they are fantastic at explaining everything. I just have one question. I love the jw player video player and menu on your front page, I was wondering if this was a plugin.. or how you did this?
Hi Virginia,
Thanks for the kind words!
That’s actually a widget from widgetbox. If you upgrade to the pro version (I think it’s about 29/yr.)- it will pull your videos from YouTube and you can create a video player with the library below (this also allows you to keep the widgetbox name off of the widget).
Hope that helps – Happy New Year!

Hi Virginia,
I am so excited to have found your website! I am unable to locate any options in the Lifestyle theme for the subnavigation bar. Can those be made into static pages? I\\\’ll have to go through and see if you have more info on creating a static homepage and having the blog feed through it\\\’s own page. Your example is different than how I\\\’ve done it in the past and your way may be quicker.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Dawn
Hi Dawn,
The subnavbar pulls your categories…so they’ll always be post pages as opposed to static pages. Did you just want more space for actual pages in the main navbar? You can move your searchbox somewhere else or your additional pages will drop beneath the navigation bar into a white space (unless you change the height of the navigation).
Here’s all you need to set up a static homepage:
Go to the ‘Setting’s tab in the dashboard and click on the ‘Reading’ settings.
There you’ll see ‘Front page displays’-
Your latest posts
Static Page
If you select ‘Static Page’ you’ll see the drop down to select which page you want as your home page.
To have the blog show up on it’s own page:
Let’s say you’ll call the blog page ‘Blog’ (orignal, huh?)
When you’re in the dashboard, editing the page, you’ll see on the right hand side under the publish page box a box titled ‘Attributes’.
The second option should say template- click ‘Blog’.
Then you’ll have to go to your ‘Lifestyle Theme Options’ under ‘Appearance’ in the dashboard. When you’re there, look for the box that says ‘Blog Page Template’ and select which category you want to show up on the blog page (probably ‘all categories?).
Hope that helps!

Hi, how can I add images to the featured content gallery slideshow? I tried “image” “featimage” but none of these seem to work
Hi Josh,
I created a pdf that might help you with that. Here's the link. Let me know if you have questions after that.
